AIDS research today is well-funded and has made good progress, largely as a result of early, successful activism and education about the disease in the 1980s. As Bono puts it: "Seven thousand people dying a day is not a cause. It's an emergency." But 150,000 people die every day due to the effects of aging. Why, we have to ask ourselves, isn't aging, anti-aging and healthy life extension research funded to the hilt?
